Silver denarius, 18mm, 3.82gm, issued c. 48 BC. Rome mint.

Obv: PIET[AS], Pietas head to right.

Rev: ALBINVS BRVTI F, Two joined hands holding caduceus.

Toned, banker's mark on neck.

The moneyer, D. Junius Brutus Albinus, was ally of Caesar during the Civil War. Despite being designated consul for 42 BC. he joined his relative M. Brutus to assassinate Caesar in 44 BC. He was besieged by Antony at Mutina in 43 BC, and fled to Macedonia, but was executed en route.
