Julia Domna

Julia Domna
Augusta (AD 193-217)

Wife of Septimius Severus, and mother of Geta and Caracalla. Born at Emesa in Syria, she was descended from the Kings of Emesa and became Severus second wife. She outlived her husband, and remained Augusta during the reigns of their sons Caracalla and Geta. She died in 217 after the murder of her son Caracalla, by a voluntary abstinence of food
