Trajan

M. Ulpius Traianus

Trajan was the son of Flavian general and commander of the Rhine legions when he was adopted by the emperor Nerva. AFter Nerva died, Trajan took up the throne without incident and provided a long and stable reign over the empire and prosecuted several profitable wars, conquering Dacia and (for a short time) major sections of Parthia. He died in the midst of his Parthian War
