Nero Drusus played an important role in the Julio-Claudian family. He was both the brother of the Emperor Tiberius and the father of the Emperor Claudius. Drusus was, like his brother, a military general that was situated in Gaul along the Rhine, and had fought in numerous campaigns against the Germanic tribes. Nero Drusus had died in 9 BC after falling from his horse whilst returning from an advance against the barbarians at Elbe.
