Silver denarius, 19mm, 3.9gm, issued 50 BC.

Obv: SALVTIS, Laureate head of Salus, right.

Rev: MN ACILIVS III VIR V, Salus standing left, leaning against column and holding serpent.

Reverse off centre, bright.

Salus and valetudo are represented because the Acilia gens claimed to have introduced the first physician to Rome. For detailed information see Harlan p 171. The III VIR is not explained.
