Drachm of Parthia, Orodes II

Silver drachm, 19mm, 3.51gm, issued c. 57-38 BC. Ecbatana mint.

Obv: Bearded bust wearing tiara left, star to left, star and crescent to right.

Rev: Archer seated facing right, monogram to right.

Orodes conspired with his brother Mithridates III to remove their father Phraates III from the throne. He then betrayed his brother and reigned solely. During his reign the Parthians massacred the Roman forces of Crassus and Carrhae. Orodes was deposed by his son Phraates in 38 BC.
