Augustus (AD 180-192)Son of Marcus Aurelius and Faustina II, Commodus succeeded his father and reigned for some twelve years. Commodus associated himself strongly with Hercules and preferred to leave the administration of the empire to a succession of corrupt favourites. As his reign became more harsh, a final plot was responsible for murdering him on New Years Eve 192
