Aemilian

M. Aemilius Aemilianus

Augustus (AD 253)

Aemilian hailed originally from Mauretania. As a general on the danubian frontier, he soundly beat some German invaders. As it was usually the other way around, his soldiers proclaimed him Augustus and they marched on the Emperor Trebonianus Gallus in Italy. Gallus was defeated before reinforcements in the shape of Valerian's army from the Rhine arrived. Aemilian enjoyed only 3 or so months as Emperor until Valerian finally arrived and defeated him
