Augustus (AD 467-472)Anthemius was the son-in-law of Marcian and was chosen by Leo to be Emperor of the West. He married his daughter to the general Ricimer who was the real power behind the throne at this time. Despite their ties, the two fell out and Ricimer set up a rival emperor, and Anthemius was executed
