Usurper (AD 272)Son of Zenobia and Odaenathus, he was proclaimed Augustus by his mother at Palmyra in AD 272 in defiance of Aurelian, who raised an army to reconquer the eastern part of the empire. Zenobia's army was defeated and the short lived Palmyran kingdom was again brought into the Roman fold
