Galba

Ser. Sulpicius Galba

Dynasty: Julio-Claudians

Augustus (AD 68-69)

Galba was a governor in Spain that rose in rebellion late in Nero's reign. His rebellion grew as he marched on Rome. Nero, panicked, committed suicide, and Galba was acclaimed emperor. The Praetorian Guard, however, were disgruntled at Galba's attempts to instil discipline, and rose up and murdered him early in AD 69
