Vespasian

T. Flavius Vespasainu Caesar

Dynasty: Flavians

Augustus (AD 69-79)

Vespasian was a successful Roman general in charge of the Judaean War when Nero was overthrown. In the ensuing confusion several generals were proclaimed emperor and by mid 69 the Syrian and Judaean legions proclaimed Vespasian emperor. They marched on Rome and Vitellius was killed. Vespasian introduced a stable reign, partly because he had two adult sons to succeed him: Titus and Domitian
