Bronze antoninianus, 20mm, 2.73gm, issued AD 268/269 Rome mint.
Obv: IMP C CLAVDIVS AVG, Radiate, draped bust facing right.
Rev: ANNONA AVG, Annona holding corn ears and cornucopiae, prow at feet.
References: Sear 11319, RIC 18.
The reverse honours Annona, the personification of the grain supply, which was so important to stability at Rome (and why she holds corn ears). The prow at her feet represents the fleet from Egypt that kept the supply to the capital.
